In November 2020, Ali Deane and myself took over Cafe Domestique on Madison’s east side to create an event that reaffirms our connectedness in the midst of a pandemic. For the entire day every drink in the shop was free, all we asked is that you tell us about a good deed you have done for the community. With this open ended prompt we wanted to help community members see their contribution to the neighborhood - we had a firefighter, a mail carrier, a person that teaches their neighbor guitar, one that takes out the garbage for their apartment building and more. After a moment to think every person that came in could think of a good deed they had done, and left like spokes on a hub to be a center in the neighborhood.
